Had a great nights sleep, just over 8 hours, Ann had a good sleep as well. Went to bed early feeling very tired so both of us feeling a lot better.
Today we plan to buy a Dubrovnik pass which will allow us to walk the city wall and visit a number of museums and then we have a dinner cruise to finish our stay in style. We check our emails and there is an email from Travelmarvel saying because of the weather they are not going to the port of Dubrovnik but will port in Ploce. We now have to meet at the Hotel Neptun some 34 minutes away by car and we will be bused to Ploce a trip of two hours. I will make arrangements for us to get picked up at 10.15 tomorrow and be taken to the hotel. Hopefully we can store our luggage there until 3 pm. Oh well can’t predict the weather.
We have breakfast straight across from our apartment. The skies look ominous, but after making the necessary arrangements for tomorrow we head off. It takes a while to get our passes, we have to give them our email address, and they then send the details to our emails. Of course it goes to spam but we eventually get it sorted. We were given advice by Karmen which was the best entrance to use where you do the steep steps early before we get too tired, it was good advice. As we start the skies are looking ominous. There are very dark clouds in the distance and then comes the thunder and lightning. It seems a fair way off and moving away from us. There are some drops of rain just after we start. The girls have wet weather gear but the boys have none apart from Luggy who has a brolly. After about 15 minutes the rain started to get heavier and the skies darker. We press on. The views are spectacular, but there are plenty of steps.
As we keep going the rain gets heavier. By the time we finish Ross and I are soaked and the rain gets heavier. We head back to the apartment to dry off and I get a message that our dinner cruise has been cancelled! Not really surprised as the weather is atrocious. There are waterfalls coming down the side streets over the steps. We are going to have to try and dry everything. We have plenty of beer and red wine to comfort us.
By 3 pm the rain has stopped and the sun is out! Melbourne weather? We head out to visit some museums before we head back to the apartment for refreshments. We now have to decide where we will go for dinner.
