Croatia and Danube Highlights: Friday 20 September

We wake to a clear partly cloudy day. Today we head off to meet up with Travelmarvel. We have a car booked for 10.15 and the pickup is about a 15 minute walk. Unfortunately we also have to repackage our cases! With our room upstairs in the attic and no hanging space and no cupboards, my clothes were strewn over the open suitcases, at least our shoes and clothes from yesterday were dry.

Ann was much more tidy and her case packed quickly. We had breakfast at a place just round the corner from where we were staying, we are such a diverse group with different tastes, we all ordered toasted sandwiches!

We were not that hungry, as we had great meal last night at an Italian restaurant in lieu of our dinner cruise.

We get all the cases down the flights of stairs and head off to the pickup point. We are there early, but our driver is on time. It only takes 15 to 20 minutes to get to the Neptun hotel where our Travelmarvel meet is. We have no problem arranging luggage storage. The hotel is part of a huge resort type area. It is very spacious with a great view over the water. Our pickup is 3 pm and we are going on a walk of the old town! We then have a 2 hour bus ride to Polce where we board the Princess Eleganza.

The apartment in Dubrovnik was in a great location, but then there were the stairs, steep and narrow, three sets and then the steps to the attic. The photos on line do not accurately reflect the reality. Only one room, a bedroom, on the first landing had a door. The attic beds were narrow and small and headroom was minimal in that you could only stand tall along the middle of the room. Although we had great views out of the attic windows. It was fortunate that we are all reasonably fit for our age.

There were no plugs for the sink or washbasins. No tea towels, no bin bags, no instructions where to place the rubbish and we almost ran out of toilet paper. Most of the channels on the TV were locked under parental control and we did not have the PIN number to unlock them. But we still enjoyed our stay there and now we are on to the next part.
