The flight from Frankfurt departed on time, but the flight was very bumpy and in flight service was cancelled, not that it was a big disappointment as all you get is a free small bottle of water, anything else you have to pay for. The flight landed on time and disembarking was very smooth with everyone staying in their seats until the row in front had moved. We had been provided a 7 euro food voucher, but Ann had thrown her boarding pass away, so we shared a Turkey roll which cost 7.95 euro!
While waiting I tried to get onto our driver who was to pick us up in Bucharest, I make contact and arrange the correct time and the pick up time is midnight as our eta is 11.40 pm Romanian time.
The flight from Frankfurt to Bucharest was about 30 minutes late but made up some time. We landed in Bucharest just after midnight. We then had a 30 minute wait for luggage which was a great relief when they appeared. I was stressing about our driver so I had sent Ann out earlier to make contact. Our driver was waiting for us and it was now 1 am! He was a surly prick and not happy to be there. He took off and we had to walk quickly to keep up. He sped away from the airport and he was going to drop us off at the wrong spot. We said this wasn’t the spot, so he picked another area and was on the phone saying this was the right spot. We were not sure but were happy just to get out.
It was the correct location and we just had to walk around the corner to the main entrance. I put in the door code but the door would not unlock! I sent a message to the host via booking.com. Ann and Karen said there is another entrance further down the street. I put the code in and success! We then took the elevator to the 7th floor and opened the key safe. I tried the key and couldn’t get it to open. I handed the key to our key master, Ross, who after a couple of attempts got it open. We all relaxed and entered the apartment. The host contacted me and it was now 1.30 am and I said we had managed to get in and blamed tiredness for the mix up.
The apartment is great. She even left a bottle of rose in the fridge. All we wanted to do was get into bed.
